PODCAST 004 - Lucy

Luca Mortellaro alias Lucy was born in Palermo (Italy) in 1983. At 16, he starts his journey into musical creation, experimenting sounds with his first analog synths. He begins his career as a DJ in central Italy at 18. When he moves to Paris, in 2006, he determines to dedicate his life to electronic music.

In 2007, he comes out with his first EP, “Open House” (Qoki Records), which immediately draws the attention of renown artists such as James Holden. Later Holden shows Lucy’s work to the founder of Perspectiv Records, Raphael Ripperton, who decides straightaway to release his second maxi “Glass Computer” on the famous label. “Glass Computer” results from the collaboration with Lucy’s friend Rone, and the EP is enriched with excellent remixes by Mark August and Masaya. The creative partnership with Rone gives other important fruits: a contract with Curle (a label that is already well known in the underground scene for its productions of Efdemin, Reynold, Mark August and many others), and the release of “Continuity Theory (for Adri)”. At the same time, Lucy finds a new family in the label Meerestief that, on one hand, allows him to go on following his musical path with different releases scheduled (the first one, “Summery Drumming” - november 2007 - already sustained by Holden, Ripperton, Anthony Collins, Sian…) and, on the other, gives him a very warm welcome in the Meerestief Booking Agency.

Lucy is currently working onto new surprises, both solo (remix for Gui Boratto and Patrick Bateman) and with Rone from the label Infiné (soon a follow up on Curle and a four hands live set). Lucy’s dj sets and lives combine techno, minimal, neo-trance and electro, creating an ambience that is energetic and.gliding at the same time, with a constant search for new sounds.
